VideoStudio 11 + Capabilities

Post by vman1949 »

If you are filming a person singing outside and a cop car goes by with siren ablaze in the background, can one get at the sound wave of the video and reduce the sound of the siren?
Thanks

Not really.

You might try splitting the audio off the video and then editing it with something like Audacity, which has more capabilities than VS. You might be able to improve it a bit, but I doubt you could get rid of the siren without also losing the vocals. :(

time to do like hollywood - need to bring the talent inside and have them re-record the vice (lipsync themselves) no way you will get the siren out - you may be able to filter certain frequency, but it won't do too much.

Another option is to open the clip (video and all) in Goldwave, which will allow you to work on the audio while keeping it synched to the video.

The problem with the siren is that its not single frequency because the vehicle is moving, so you get a doppler effect which as others say is very difficult if not impossible to remove.

That being said, Goldwave has the tools to let you experiment. You may be able to reduce the impact somewhat.
