Post by JMomOhio »

Okay..........I'm new to this, so be patient. I get all done, preview my slideshow and then hit the next button to go to the 3rd step and nothing happens. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help!

Can't get past the 2nd step in Movie Factory 6 Plus

Post by JMomOhio »

Nature of the problem I am making a simple slideshow and when I get to step 3 the next button simply won't take me there.

Properties of your source files My own .jpg files , various sizes

What devices are involved and their mode of connection?

Project Settings

Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD)

PAL or NTSC NTSC

Error Codes (if any) None

Any audio/video softwares or codec packs installed in the system Just what was installed with the program and I updated or installed everything mentioned in READ ME!

BTW, I was extremely frustrated when I made my original post and felt the reply was very inhospitable. Whatever happened to .......Welcome to the boards and CONGRATS on your new purchase. I had already read the sticky and manual and thought my question was pretty simple. If you assume everyone who visits your board for help is an moron/idiot then you're doing everyone a huge disservice.

Thank you,

Julie

I'd appreciate a little help here now. The trial version did this to me also temporarily, but it resolved itself without any intervention on my part.

I appreciate your help, but all the instructions that you have posted was very easy. The problem still remained that the next button going to step 3 was unresponsive and it took me days to finally find the answer below. I manually uninstalled the program last night, and can not get it reinstalled. I'm so frustrated at this point that I'm hanging it up and calling for a refund this morning. I'm sure this is a wonderful program, but the inability to get assistance when I needed it and the difficulty in finding the resolution at this site just took its toll on me.

Thanks again for your help.

Julie

Julie,
You need to appreciate that everyone here who answers questions is a user and volunteer, nobody is a paid employee of corel.
Nobody has access to the ins and outs of the app or it's employees, so we try our best to help, but that does mean those that help themselves most tend to get most help back.
I'm sorry you feel we've been of no help and wish you well with your next purchase.

I appreciate your post and I do realize these folks here are not paid employees, just satisfied customers wishing to help others. My frustration was that I was not getting the help I needed when I needed it and had promised a slideshow product to be completed for a client. I had already shown him what the slideshow would look like when I used the TBYB version and he was very pleased.

I'm sorry this didn't work out because I like the product. Perhaps I will purchase another product in the future, but for now I need a product that is reliable so I could complete the transaction I have with my client. Time is money, and I lost money when this product failed to produce the end product.

Sincerely,

Julie B.

skier-hughes, :D

BTW, I did take note of your website and have added it to my favorites. It looks to be very informative.

Thanks again,

You shouldn't assume I am inhospitable, just as I did not assume you were an idiot, although I am getting that impression (as you still didn't answer the questions in the top post).

Frankly, I am getting tired of trying to help people who don't even help themselves (or us) by doing some research, including reading the top post that says READ THIS FIRST, and then providing us some relevant information.

Maybe it is time for me to retire.

I think that was a little harsh, maybe just time to sit and have a cold beer

Julie,

I'm not sure how long you've been in business, but I've been self employed for 25+ years, running a variety of businesses and one thing you learn is to ensure that you can deliver before you commit to deliver.

Personally I think that going out to sell to a client based on what you can do on a trial product is naive, but I do take your point that a full version should work for you.

One pointer I will give you is NEVER EVER update any programme you are using whilst in the middle of a project, be it powerpoint, word, videostudio or photoshop. Just becasue an old version worked in a particular manner on your pc doesn't mean that a new version will. I learned this the hard way, as you unfortunately just have.

In hindsight you'd have been better off finishing using the tbyb version and then worked on instaling the full version.

I use canopus edius pro, there has been an update out for the last 4 weeks or so, but I have had too much work on to try and install it. I've just cleared my desk ready for my holiday and on my return I will.
Back up all my old projects.
Ghost the drive so that I can return it to this state if I have a problem with the update. (I also have a ghost of the initial set up)
Install update.
Test with projects that I've finished to see if it all works ok.
Carry on or return to old version.

As you have said time is money and spending half a day doing the above saves me money in the long run by not having to renage on commitments, turn work away or redo projects over again becasue they've all got messed up.

If you haven't returned the product maybe we could start again and see if we could help?

Maybe it was. But she shouldn't dish it out if she can't take it.

Almost done work. I will have that beer soon. :D

I do apologize for offending you, and I did read EVERYTHING FIRST before coming here. I went thru the READ ME, manual, the FAQs and couldn't quite find what was happening with my own situation.

Also, I did do quite a bit of research before I even decided to go with this program and did a lot of 'test driving' with comparable programs. If the program had been working properly I can't see any reason why I shouldn't use it. It was very simple and had just what I needed for this particular client without getting into a lot of cash laid out on bells and whistles I didn't intend to use.

Yes, I've already uninstalled the program and have an RMA for the return, but that doesn't mean I won't purchase Corel products. I highly respect this company and the products they sell.

Once again, I'm sorry! I'm a Taurus and tend to have a temper now and again............but I did expect at least a "Welcome" when I asked my questions instead of immediately being sent to the sticky.

Not your fault, Black Lab.............go have a beer for me too and forget I was ever here!!
