Importing Flash - File Type mismatch

Post by Yesideez »

Hi,

I'm trying to import a Flash file I've made (SWF) and all I get is a file type mismatch. I've tried the following:
1. Import as video
2. import as picture
3. Import as flash via Flash section

Nothing is working.

I'm running Adobe Flash CS3 v9 and I've tried to publish it as an earlier version but nothing is working. I've tried the search function and all I seem to get is to install the older flash player that came with VS but I have no disk, I downloaded from the website.

Welcome to the forums,

First you're SWF file is for Version 9 flash player? VS11+ installs Flashplayer-7. I'm not sure how or what Adobe does when it creates the SWF files, however I use a cheaper utility to create SWF files, and have no problems inserting them into VS.

To gain access to the Flashplayer installer for VS, you can unpack the downloaded install file (uvs11_plus_(e).exe) using Winzip, Winrar, ZipGenius. Once you have it unpacked go to Utilities Folder>Flashplayer folder. The installer is located inside that folder.

Thank-you very much.

I think I used the name "Zeb" on here before but I lost the password and changed ISP since then so I had to make this one.

I'll give that a go now.

btw, when I published my SWF file (aka compiled) I also tried setting the option down to Flash v3 and even Flash Lite v2 and neither of those worked.

I'll give your method a go and post the outcome so others with CS3 will know if this is going to work.

Wow! It worked!

Just hoping Firefox doesn't prompt me to download a new update for Flash player.

Even if it does (or CS3 does) I think I can live with installing this again each time considering I rarely use Flash in VS.

I just wanted some nice flashy end credits - now I've got them :D

Thanks again!

Just as I expected - I'll have to keep switching between the old and new player as my browser is complaining.

I can live with that though...
