Dazzle DVC 170

Post by richmont@surewest.net »

I just purchased VS11 and a Dazzle DVS 170 to trans videos from my VRS player to the computer The DVC 170 connects to the VHS player with RCA connections and into the DVC 170. The DVC 170 connects to the computer via a USB cable. When I try to capture, I get the message-"Cannot start the capture graph" 15065:29 OR "Capture module initialization failed" 15064:20 To get help from Pinnacle-FORGET IT!

Does anyone have an answer? Is there a better capture device? or is it the VS11 software?

First off, change your user name immediately. Using an email address will just attract the spam bots which will pick it up and flood you with spam.

Second, Pinnacle devices are, I am afraid, hard wired to work only with Pinnacle software (i.e. the version of Pinnacle Studio which would have come with it). Other editing programs, like Video Studio, cannot capture from it. Not the fault of Video Studio but of Pinnacle.

Your options are to capture with Pinnacle and then open the captured files in VS for editing, or buy another device. Be aware, though, that many capture devices are similarly hard wired to work only with the software they are supplied with. But also be aware that many of us here use one program to capture (even if the device works with VS), then VS to edit, another to produce titles, another to edit audio etc etc. Once you get into video editing you will realise that some programs do things better than others. However, when connected to the right device, VS captures just fine...
