WinDVD8 lost after download

Post by Taoseeker »

Hi
I just downloaded WinDVD 8. I all ready had WinDVD5 that came with the computer and had a bit of trouble with updating, because I never did get around to do that before now. Eventually I bought the WinDVD8 version thinking that was a good idea. I downloaded from the Corel site and payed via Paypal. I used Firefox when I downloaded and I wonder if that might be the cause of some problems.

In the installing and initializing proses I got a message that said something like "WinDVD is still running, close window". I did that and clicked "continue". The reply from the wizard was "system unchanged" and every thing closed.

Now I cannot find WinDVD 8 anywhere on my pc. No icons on the desk board (that might be because of Firefox),no trace of the software any where on the machine ?? !!

What do I do now? Now I wish I had bought WindDVD8 on a CD not online. Can I have the whole thing sent to me again? I have a registration number on corel's "my account".
Do anybody know how I can have this fixed?

Kind Regards

Sorry if you this sounds like I am telling you off - I am not.
You can alter the title by using the Image button on your first post.

The purpose of providing a meaningful title is this.
There are a number of members on the forum who try and help troubleshoot problems - myself included. In the early days of the user forum it was not too difficult to be able to read all of the posts submitted since the last time I (or one of the other troubleshooters) had logged on.

On the Forum Home page at the top right is a link
view posts since last visit In the forums early days this would perhaps range between 10-30 posts. Today however the board has grown in popularity and more products are now catered for including the former Intervideo products before the merger with Ulead.

There have been days when I have logged on to find over 70 new posts since my last visit. It is of course impossible to read each and every one of them and so it is necessary to look at the titles to pick out posts where I feel I am able to offer some worthwhile input.

if you are viewing perhaps the VideoStudio forum and a post is entitled
"VideoStudio" - it doesn't really give you a clue, similarly in the PhotoImpact forum a post entitled [PhotoImpact] is equally as meaningless.

Giving a post a suitable title is a means of helping us to help you.

To answer your problem. I download almost all of my software using Firefox and so that is not the problem. If you have not altered any default settings Firefox will save downloaded files on your desktop. If for some reason your file has not been saved then simply go to the Corel Website and download the trial version and then use your serial number etc to activate it.

Hi again.
Thank you for your help. I followed your advice and downloaded the trial version of WinDVD8. There is one problem thought, there is a window popping up asking me to register the product. I have followed the procedure and filled in the product key registered at coral. The problem is that the serial number have all ready been registered/used somehow. Does this mean I am stuck with the trial version until I find a way to get this rather unflexible registering system to work?

I hope all the info is not needed in my profile, rather difficult to figure out exactly what is correct. I promise I shall make an effort.

Kind Regards
