As i am not able to download any trial software, I have to ask the question here. Is it possible to transfer straight from camcorder to mp3? I know it is possible to transfer to a lot of different options, but I have the need to publish video on the website, as well as sound (for a mp3 player)
Is this possible?
Output to MP3

Technically no for a DV cam, you would have to capture the video along with the audio. But if you use MPEG capture with MPEG audio you can output a mpa or mp2 file directly without converting it. That's the case at least in VS7 AFAIK.
You could just capture using uncompressed WAV export and convert in an outside program which I would think would be the best way for mainataining the best quality.
If it's an analog cam get a Y splitter to mini-jack and use a reglar recording app instead.

Hi,
The Coalman is right on.
I would suggest that you'd want to capture to hard drive via firewire. That will give you the best audio to convert.
There are a lot of good audio editors. I have some of the really good (expensive) ones that cost several times the cost of VS9.
AVS (http://www.avsmedia.com/AudioUtilities/editor.aspx ) is a full featured editor for about $30US.

UVS does allow you to save just the audio of the current project -- in the Share tab, click on "Create Audio File". It does not output directly to MP3 format, so you would have to create a WAV file for instance, and then convert that using another program, such as Audacity with the LAME encoding library.
