Vsampler message at 57% load, did I guy a legit copy??

Post by sounddoctorin »

I'm a total newb to video editing. I'm just trying to get something that will work with basic features really. I bought a boxed copy of videostudio 5, seeing only good reviews on a google search. The jerk charged me too much to ship it and it didn't work. Got nothing but noise for audio every time I rendered. APparently the s/w doesn't support the 8khz mono sound of the camera I'm using. Or all my hair tearing just didn't reveal the right way to do something. Manual was no help.

Anyway someone suggested I try the media studio 8.0 and I downloaded a trial copy. My first impression was "Doh" as at 57% it said some message about Vsampler not being able to load. It has to..hem and haw..and think about it before it gives you the message of course. Any time I write an error routine I report to the user 'there seem to be a problem with xyz..' and I give them the option to 'retry' at which point it can 'hem and haw'..oh silly me.

Anyway it finally gives you the message and you hit 'ok ' and it goes ahead and loads and works fine (once I tore my hair out some more to figure out how to do the basics without any help files...arghhh.)

Anyway so I see a guy selling it on ebay for 150 and someone buys it. Someone has 'or best offer' and I do 145 and he takes it. The add said "NEW" and showed the box so..I thought I was getting another boxed copy that someone had overstock of or something.

Down in the 'fine print' below all the description "This is a digital download"..... is this guy authorized to do this? Or is he selling warez copies that any knucklehead can download if they want to steal the s/w?

I got his contact information and it doesn't match the name he gave AND the phone is bogus (Beep beep beep immediately when you dial). John Onlar is the name he gives. yeah..right.

Ebay has been useless so far, asking me to try to contact the guy and work out things with him. huh? Why would you want to tip off a scammer that you are onto him? He's sold a LOT of copies on there.

I wrote the nopiracy a few days ago and haven't received anything but an out of office reply.

ANy help appreciated. If I have a legit copy from..John Onlar well...so be it. I'm certainly going to find a cheaper solution to making my synth demo videos etc than this expensive package since I don't need all the bells/whistles. That was as much as I'm willing to pay for what I'm doing. But I want to do it right whatever I do.

OOPS and I SHOULD say..that he told me to delete the old trial I had going and redownload his 603M or whatever it was download. Both has the 57% halt problem on load up. AND I had tried to insert the code he gave me to activate the trial. It wouldn't take it. But the code worked fine in the version he gave me. -Bob

Vsampler DXI Adapter: The Vsampler plugin failed to load. Vsampler Plugin failed to initialize. Probably have more than one instance/song open!

I did a search for both VSampler and DXI on my computers and found nothing. Googling revealed that it is a 3rd party software http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/VSampler3/ which has nothing to do with MSP.

It certainly sounds like you may have a pirated copy. As such, the forum rules forbid us to help you. Anyway, as you say, MSP is a complex prosumer package and you would be better off with VideoStudio 11 for the work you need to do. Your experience with VS5 may be because either you have a conflict with another audio application or it was not built for your present OS, as it is a product from the last century.

I respectfully suggest you trial VS11 and, if it's OK, it costs only a few tens of $$. If you have problems, seek a conflict with other audio apps or ask on the VS board here.

But I wrote 'no-piracy'...why don't they reply with anything but a worthless form letter? Could it be Corel is allowing this clown to sell the s/w so that they can torque people around after their paypal money back period expires? This kind of behavior does make one wonder.

How hard is it for Corel to simply check my registration code and see if it's legit? -Bob

PS and like I think I said, I downloaded the media studio trial from Corel. It did the same 'vsampler' error. I dunno what to think. Wish they would write back.

The easiest way to check your registration code to see if it is legitimate is to create a new user account on the Corel Website and then see if it will allow you to register the software.
