videostudio 11+ auto music problem

Post by seven »

Got a new computer with Vista so trying out VS 11+ and I have the exact same problem with it that I did when I was using VS 10+.. when I click on auto music under audio VS simply crashes. I also had VS 8 before where the auto music would work fine so with VS 10+ I didn't care I'd just use the VS 8 if i needed to use auto music but since VS 8 won't work on Vista I need 11+ to let me use auto audio so how do I fix this problem?

Thnx.

First, you need to have QuickTime installed, and the version that came with VS11. Then you need to go to the SmartSound.com website and look for an update for QuickTracks for Video Studio....

QuickTracks audio worked for me on VS8 and never worked on VS9 or VS10+. They still work in VS8...

I did what you suggest, Ken, and it never helped. Database rebuild shows "no files found" and they are all at two different places on my disk.
The only thing VS9 and 10 find are the two samples installed by the program itself.

I tried several cleaning and re-installs and nothing ever helped.
I gave up because I don't find SmartTracks a good idea, it's too repetitive.
This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.

Hi
After having some install problems with the Auto Sound files I decided to re-install Smartsound.

I un-installed ¡¥Smartsound quick tracks plugin¡¦
Searched for all remaining smart sound and quick tracks and removed.
Re-installed with same problems.

Repeated the above then:-

Searched registry and deleted all Smartsound

All seems to install and work ok.

You could try running VS without Smartsound installed.
Does the program still crash?
Or just informs you that no Smartsound installed?

I cannot even uninstall smart sound cause of a "Fatal Error". No amount install/unistall helps. This really sucks.. I wish I could use UVS I got too used to it but guess will just have to try some other softwares now.

Ok now, does the UVS 11+ trial come with quicktrack sound files or not? If it does, I still have problem.. if not, maybe need to get the full version that includes sound files?

Hi Seven

The Smartsound music although packaged and installed with VS is a separate piece of software.

I am using Win XP.

I installed VS 8, this worked ok with Smartsound.

Then I installed the trial version VS 11
VS 11 trial crashed when clicking Auto Music tab.

Now I ran the VS 8 patch which appeared to install Smartsound again.
Maybe running a repair from VS 8 install may do the same.

Now VS 11 works ok when clicking the Auto Music tab.

Your smartsound library tracks should be here C:\SmartSound Software\Quicktracks\Library
I see 26 items in this folder.

I am a little confused as to which versions you have, you mention VS 8 and 10 and now VS 11 trial.??????????

I'm baffled.
