VideoStudeo V5 won't start.

Post by gusgallows »

The software came with my firewire card and installed successfully. However, when I try to run it, I get the following error in the application log and it crashes:

Faulting application vstudio.exe, version 1.0.0.1, faulting module 3ivxdsencoder.ax, version 4.5.1.30, fault address 0x00002342.

Please advise.

Has it ever worked or is this a new installation?
Version 5 is very outdated now but I would think it should work on XP, we are now on version 11.

You might try uninstalling it and then re-installing it.

According to one source (unverified) VideoStudio 5 was originally compatible with W98, ME, 2000 and NT only. Ulead might have offered an XP compatibility patch at some point but since Version 5 is six years old and no longer supported it would be difficult if not impossible to acquire.

Original VS5 Specifications:
Intel Pentium/300 or higher, Pentium 4 compatible, Pentium III 500MHz for DV, Windows 98, ME, 2000, NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6, 64MB RAM (128MB recommended), 300+ MB hard disk space, CD-ROM or DVD-ROM, Sound Board, Video Capture Board for Analogue capture, OHCI-compliant IEEE 1394 card for DV capture.
