importing ts file into studio 11
I am normally able to import TS files from my video recorder and then use studio 11 to make a DVD. With one file however there is a problem. When I try to import it studio 11 shuts down immediately

importing ts file into studio 11
Thanks for reply.
The position is that I have a digital recorder for TV and I am able to download files (xxxxxx.ts) from it into my computer where they are normally recognised by studio 11. I have this one file which when I try to insert a video file into the timeline the program immediately shuts down completely. I am left looking at the desktop with the computer working normally. Importing xxxx.ts files only works with version 11 and it has been very successful up to now

Hi
From what you say I would suspect a corrupt file.
Within the TS folder is xxxx.Vob files
These are the ones that contain the video content.
Try inserting each in turn to the library or timeline.
Also
You could re name the files, changing the extension to .mpg
Then try inserting.
If it is a corrupt file then re-naming will have little effect.

Trevor -- I suspect the OP has actually captured mpeg-2 Transport Stream (.ts) files, rather than having a Video_TS folder...
That being said, I agree with your diagnosis that he may have a corrupt file. He might want to try using HDTV2mpeg which is what I use to convert my Fusion .ps captures to standard mpeg-2. I am pretty sure it does .ts files as well. Unfortunately, I am currently travelling so don't have a website for it but a Google search should find it easily enough...

Hi
Cheers Ken, hope your not working to hard, bought that camera yet?
Anyhow I did a search, Videohelp.com came up with the software
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/HDTVtoMPEG2
Robert, you may find this useful, although I still think corrupt file as your process has worked in the past.

Two more programs that might fix a broken MPEG file (dependent upon the cause of the fault) are
VideoReDo
Womble MPEG Wizard
Neither are FREE.

Many thanks for your thoughts. First of all it is a single file not a folder. Second it plays ok with windows media player and although it initially says it does not recognise the "ts" it goes ahead and plays it anyway. The file does not therefore look as corrupt as all that. (Maybe it is the air in northern wiltshire!)
I did try a conversion program but the results were poor
The odd thing is just how fast the program shutdown takes place when I select the video file
Anyway thanks again

Have tried conversion on this site and it works really well but no sound. The forum on the site indicates I am not the only one

the site
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/HDTVtoMPEG2
has helped. Thanks. It didnt have any sound to start with but I had not noticed that the latest version of the software was at the bottom of the list off the screen not the top. Once I had the correct version it converted OK so I can now use ulead. It splits it into 2 half hour files but that is not a problem
This gets me out of trouble as I had promised a friend |I would record a 3 part program!
Thanks again.
