Audio out of synchronisation
Audio out of synchronisation
I have an video file that I have trimmed using Movie Factory but could not save it as an mp2 file which is what I require. I saved it as an image file and then converted it to an AVI file so that I could edit it on Movie Factory and then save it as an mp2 file. Unfortunately the audio is now out of synch with the video. It happens gradually over the 45 minute file so that at the end of the clip the audio is about 1 second behind the video. How do I go about correcting this. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

What's the properties of this "video file", DV, full uncompressed avi, Divx, Xvid, MPEG4, WMV?
I don't understand what you mean by converting it to an "image file"? Image file as in you created an ISO file, or an animated GIF?
Why could you not render/create an MPEG-2 file from your video file? How did you attempt to do this? In DVDMF6+ with a clip(s) selected in the time line, press the Export Selected Clips. From the menu choose one of the presets or Custom. From the Custom dialog select MPEG in the drop down menu. Then press Options, and on each tab make sure you have the appropriate attributes set, such as frame size, aspect ratio, and bitrates.
This will convert the clip, and rather quickly to your MPEG-2 format. Once that is done, using the Insert Video, reinsert this one into your time line and proceed on..

Audio out of synch
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I had a video file that I trimmed in Movie Factory 6 and I couldn't see an option to create an mp2 file from the trimmed timeline. So I chose to create disk image file (iso). This I converted using Canopus Prododer 2 to an AVI file (AVI2, Canopus DV, PAL, 720x576, 25fps, compatible with Canopus EDIUS or 3rd party editing applications).
I did this because I have Lets Edit and I could then use that to make my mp2 file. Long winded but its all I could think of.
It is this file that the audio goes increasingly out of sych with the video.
Being new to all of this I wasn't aware that I could then use the export the clips button for my trimmed video in MF6 and customise and have other options as to which format I wanted to save the trimmed video in. I'll try that this evening.
Thank-you for the advice.

Was your original file MP2? Can you edit the original format with Lets Edit?I had a video file that I trimmed in Movie Factory 6 and I couldn't see an option to create an mp2 file from the trimmed timeline.
Movie Factory is probably the wrong program for this project. Movie Factory is a DVD authoring program... It's main use is to make DVDs....could not save it as an mp2 file which is what I require.
You might try converting the file to AVI/DV before editing/trimming. I suspect this will solve the problem. This I converted using Canopus Prododer 2 to an AVI file (AVI2, Canopus DV, PAL...
I've never used an "MP2" file, but I have had sync problems when editing "regular" MPEG-2 files with the Ulead/Corel programs. I solved my problems by buying the Womble MPEG editor. Another special-purpose MPEG editor is VideoReDo. Both of these programs also have tools that can repair some corrupt MPEG files. I think the goal is to repair the file after editing, but before the sync problems show-up. (I haven't had any need to repair an MPEG since I started editing with Womble.)
Was this file out-of sync? I suspect so.... I think the sync problems usually show-up when you re-encode/transcode a file that was (somehow) corrupted during the editing process. This I converted using Canopus Prododer 2 to an AVI file (AVI2, Canopus DV, PAL, 720x576, 25fps,
If you search the forum for "sync" you will find more discussion and suggestions.
