VideoStudio 11 Plus transitions not working

Post by sydofney »

Am new to this forum site, so if anyone can help I thank you.
I have just purchased a brand new laptop and upgraded aspects of it to make it better for video editing. Put my VS 8 on it and any transition starting with "flying" would not work. Did not even get it to show in the preview window when clicked on. Thought maybe because I now have vista this could be the problem, so I downloaded trial version of VS 11 Plus and have the same problem. Is there anything I can do????? :?
thankyou for your time

VS 11 is the only version that is rated to run on Vista.
VS10 could with a patch.
With vista some of the windows components that VS depended on to produce some of the transitions were dropped so those transitions will no longer work on Vista machines.
The ulead site gives full details of which transitions are affected by the change in Windows.

Welcome to the forum,

First VS8 is not compatible with Vista, so I'd be surprised if it works very well, if at all. While it is possible to run it using Compatibility Mode for XP, I think that it would not be very reliable.

Since the release of Vista, companies such as Corel, had to modify it's programs so that they would be compatible. Some of the transitions were dropped from the program to meet this compatibility issue. The following is from Ulead's VS10+ Updates page, which is where the first change was made for Vista compatibility:
# Since Video for Windows (VFW) is not supported in Vista, VFW codecs such as Indeo, Cinepak are not supported in Vista. The video content files provided by VideoStudio will now be encoded using .WMV instead of Indeo codecs.
# Some 3D transition effects that won¡¦t be supported on Vista are removed from current release, including: Flying Board, Flying Cube, Flying Flip, Flying Fold, and Folding Box. Some templates under "Album", "Flash Light" and "Mask" transition effect are also not supported.
# WDM devices are not supported by Vista. Thus, not supported by VideoStudio.
# WMV and MPEG 4 format CAPTURE is not supported.
# MOV and MPEG 4 formats are not supported in this version.
# WinDVD 7, PocketDV show, and Cool3D are not supported.

I appreciate your quick reply. Your knowledge has saved me hours of frustration and wasted time trying to fix the problem. :) :) So apart from this transition glitch every thing else should be fine and I should have no other problems if I go ahead with the full program on Vista.
thankyou for your time

Judging by your system alone you should be good to go.
Any further problems just post back here. The people that are on the board rarely fail to get you up and running.
