What's this? I can't believe it's happening. When I "save current frame as image," my daughter suddenly looks as if she's gained 30 pounds! Everybody is shorter and fatter. The images lose their normal proportions.
Is this something well-known to everybody? Have I unwittingly selected some arcane option or preference? Why don't my "saved frames" look like standard stills?
I need help. (Or, as one not-to-be-forgotten poster put it not too long ago, "Please respond promptly!")

"Save Current Frame as Image" distorts proportions

THoff
THANK YOU THoff for getting back to me in 9 minutes! O I love this forum!
My Preferences actually are set the way you specify, except for Resampling which I have set to Good. (You don't think THAT could affect the aspect ratio of captured stills, do you? I'm sure not.)
Now that I think about it, I realize this "setting" (or whatever) must have been in place many months ago, because a face captured from my 2004 travel video struck me as being kind of "wide" so I altered it with Photoshop knowing the owner would never see it.
I'd like not to have this problem, but for the moment I can always do a fix in Photoshop. Problem is, I don't know my daughter's true aspect ratio.

Keith,
I just tested this and found that that by setting the "image resampling option" in "preferences" to "Fit to project size" it saved in proportion to the video.
After I add the grabbed frame to the timeline, if I click on it and select "Fit to Screen" it is then matches the frame in the video exactly. I checked this by superimposing the grabbed frame over the same frame in the video--exact match.

That did it. Can't understand why that option is there.
Rather than search through an hour of video to find my two-dozen carefully chosen images, I got the same image using both Preference settings and will figure out how much vertical lengthening is needed to make my short, fat image look like the correct one. Then I'll apply that change to all. (And remember it for the future just in case.)
Thank you both!
