Hi,
I just got a vew Vista x64 system last week and tried to load WinDVD 8 back onto it and it keeps failing at the Feb 2006 pre-req update.
Has anyone had any problems with this?
I really want to continue to use WinDVD so if someone could help that would be great.
Thanks
Warren

Yes you're correct, have to have the program installed to apply the patch..
With Vista, I'd try disabling the UAC (User Account Control), possibly Disabling Vista Aeros too. I've found some problems with those, where having them disabled corrected it.
Vista is way too secure. Don't blink or breath while doing something or Vista will think you're trying to do something illegal...

By the way WinDVD 9 is about to be released - it is as lot easier to install - no more of that email address, password, serial number, credit card number rubbish.

Hey vidoman,
Thanks for the mail. Actually I had disabled the UAC and the vista version is Business so I think that Aero doesnt come with that version.
However also interesting to note that before I upgraded my PC I was running Vista Business x86 and I didnt have a problem with the install then. It appears to have only happened when I went to the x64 version.

hey sjj1805,
Thanks for the mail. Its good to hear about the oncoming release of V9 and perhaps that might be the route I might go.
What concerns me is the pre-req failure I was having when it was downloading the DirectX. That all downloaded OK however it was the installation of these files that was failing. I dont even think I was actually getting to the WinDVD install.
So I suppose my concern is whether I will have the same issues when going to v9. Will it require those pre-req's on the system. I would of presumed being Vista that having a current version of DX on there would of negated me having to install other DX files?
