Unexpected file format

Post by olc »

Hi
Received the error "Unexpected file format" in Video Studio 11. I had cre
ated a file and added some 10 mpegs and about 20 *.mod files and was work
ing away and when I tried to repopen file after a break it said "Unexpect
ed file format". The machine had shut down unexpectedly and when it restarted it said it was changing the index of certain files.

I have tried the file on several computers (with the relevent video files) to no success.

Thanks
Michael Ryan

That is a message displayed when a NTFS computer (XP/Vista/NT) detects a fault on your hard drive, reboots the computer and runs its disc checking program CHKDSK.

Which file? - the one you created and were then unable to re-open? If so it is obviously corrupted. You might have to start again.

What I do when working on an large project - whether it be VideoStudio or even something completely different such as a spreadsheet or a Microsoft Access database is every time I reach a critical point I save the program under a new name. This can be as simple as adding a counter at the end.
e.g.
MyBigProject01
MyBigProject02
MyBigProject03

If disaster strikes I can then revert to an earlier saved version.
