MF4 DVD Import
I am using windows XP with SP2 but I am still having problems importing dvd clips, it does appear to be the 4Gb barrier but microsoft says the machine is all up to date and local 'experts' tell me with SP2 I should not be having this problem, any ideas ?.

If it's a 4gb problem it would be because your HD is formatted in FAT. To see go to MY Computer and right click on the drive and select properties. Under the general tab look at the top for files system. FAT has a 4gb limit NTFS does not. If it is FAT format let us know.
You might want to be a little more specific as to what your problem is, simply saying I can't import DVD's is not enough info.

More Info
The file system is NTFS.
I can read and edit a DVD without problems.
If I try to import a clip then on a DVD with two programs on it show titles numbered 2 and 3, (not 1&2) 2 was most of the disk but 3 was the last few minutes of the first program, the second program cannot be seen i.e it seems to have divided the first program into two clips and ignored the 2nd program.

That can be a common problem.
You need to post how the video was created and what the format is
you recorded the videl in before importing.
Is it a Dvd-r regular program stream standard dvd disc (type ps)?
Is it a dvd-ram formatted in the -vr format?
Is it a dvd-rw formatted in the -vr format?
There are a some things you may have to do to the dvd
on the recorder if the file(s) movie is larger than 4gig's.
It can also be a bad sector on the dvd.
Hope this helps,
MD

Problem Defined
I have conducted further investigations.
The disk is +VR file format.
The programs were recorded using a Technosonic DVDR2018 and the disk finalised to be able to read on any DVD(This does not always work either)
The first program was recorded in SP but the second was recored in EP and I believe this is the root of the problem.
I can edit the dvd and make a new one without problems but if I wish to import a file from this then the program does not 'see' the second program.
If programs are all of the same format i.e SP then the problem does not occur.
Is this a bug or are my expectations just too high ?.

Hi,
I think the +VR format writes the same format as a VIDEO_TS folder.
You can try Dvd Decryptor which is a freeware program. The program
operates in 3 modes. In one mode it will copy each movie to the harddrive
and they have an extension of .vob
Then rename the file on the harddrive from .vob to .mpg
Then import the file into MF4.
Hope this helps,
