downloading clips to external hard drive

downloading clips to external hard drive

can anybody please tell me if it is perfectly ok to download my clips from my camcorder directly to my external hard drive?

i can only use usb as the camcorder does not have a firewire
it is a sony hdd dcr sr52

would doing this cause any loss of quality etc

also can i change my working folder to this drive adn can somebody please explain exactly what a working folder does?
the reason i ask this is do not want to clog up my computer

As your camcorder is a hard drive model you can transfer your video clips directly to an external hard drive no problem.

You can change your working folder to this drive.

The working folder is where all the items related to your work are kept, so the project file etc.
