How can I delete the original sound track?

Post by DaveL »

How can I delete the original sound track? I¡¦m working with video captured from a DV Camera that has a sound track that is nothing more than background noise. I¡¦ve added a music track but the background noise from the original recording is still present. There must be something that I¡¦m overlooking¡K.
Thanks

I don't use DVD MF to edit my video and am not sure about this. In an NLE editor like VS and MSP, you can split the sound track and just delete it or turn the volume down.

DVD MF, being an authoring program, not an editor, doesn't have that ability I believe. It lacks the time line display of an editor where you can see the sound track as a separate track, even though it is embedded in the video stream.

Go into the Edit Room.
Do you have a users manual for the program?

Thanks heinz-oz!
In the Edit Room under the video tab there is an audio mute button, I had seen this before but thought it would mute all audio, it only mutes the embedded audio track. The manual does not explain this well, it talks about the mute buttons that are on both the voice-audio tab and the music tab but not the video tab. Anyway thanks for your time it works well now.

To access all the features in the edit room you may have to toggle back & forth between the timeline view and clip view mode.
That's the little icon to the top left of the timeline view mode. Where the videos clips are at.
So the usually method is to mute the audio track and then in on the audio tab add you audio files.
You should also be able to right click on the audio track in timeline view and select to add media.

etech6355,

Thank you for the extra information, it did not seem to be spelled out well in the manual.
Thanks again for your help!
