Post by Clevo »

Hi folks, I'm in the market to expand my software range and was wondering which Corel software product compliments VS11.5+.

I have photo editing software so don't need that.
I Have Video editing

Which would you recommend?

If you edit mpeg video the program "VideoRedo" or "Womble"
As for other programs seems like the more you put on the more problems one can have.

PhotoImpact - so you can create or modify your DVD Menus.
No other image editor can do so because the menus use the proprietary
UFO (Ulead File for Objects) format.

If you had XP I would have suggested DVD Workshop 2.
However you have Vista - bad luck!! - it is not compatible and is also now a product that will not be developed further.

For sound editing - the FREE audio editor Audacity

For titles, I use either Ulead 3D Production Studio, which is not supposed to work with Vista but in fact does. Great effects but incredibly slow to render. I also use Xara 3D, which also does great titles, thought the range is a little more limited. But it renders as fast as anyone would want. Have recently acquired the trial version of Bluff Titler and am impressed, but have not yet bought.

For transitions, I recommend both Canopus FX (though I am not sure they are available any more and require a special plug-in to work with VS -- though I can supply it if you get the main program). Adorage also has a great range, though rather expensive.

You are kidding right?! Back in the older ULEAD days this would have been an easy question.... Video Studio or Media Studio Pro for video editing had a great compliment of software such as Photo Impact, DVD Workshop, Cool 3D. Plus these editors (well, at least MSP) worked great with a complimant of 3rd party plug-ins like Boris or Canopus. These programs all together made for some great productivity. Since the demise of Ulead and the ultimate take over by Corel some of the best products have been thrown to the wayside or have lost compatibility. Get as far away from Corel products and video editing as you can - there seems to be nothing but disillusion and dissapointment if you follow this road.

For repairing mpeg2 video files, other neat features. They are specialized mpeg2 editors. Also have some nice utility programs in them for working with video.
I've yet to find one program that does it all.

Well, try this one and let us know how it works. Reasonably priced I guess :)

Ron,
The suggested/recommended computer configuration to run that software is a dual(2) quad(4 cores) Xeon processors & 2 - 1 Terrabyte Raid 0 drives.

If you click on the "Please call us" button to the right of the price tag it takes you into outlook ready to send an email. I expected an 0800 number.

Certainly wouldn't buy software at any price from a companythat does not know the meaning of call.
Otherwise!!!!!
