Plextor claims that you must buy a modifed version of VS 8 to run with the px-m402u of coarse they are the only place to buy this modified version thia sounds like a hyped up sales pitch?

The SE version usually comes bundled with the product.

like advertised here:

http://www.plextor.com/English/products/ConvertX2.htm

As far as I know, the only Video Studio that is for retail sale these days is VS11.

Many times VS will comes bundled with a hardware device. VS is usually modified to work with the device. These modified versions are usually given the SE designation.

Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.

If you have Vista - forget it, VideoStudio 8 does not work on Vista.

Like pointed out by my colleagues already, you don't need to buy a modified version of VS 8 because it comes bundled with the PLEXTOR device. If you want to use a later version of VS for your editing there is no problem with that. You capture with the bundled version and edit the resultant file with a newer version of VS, too easy?

Re: using VS 8 unbundled with convertx

Post by tomcat »

Plextor sold a lot of convertx with the WinCreator 2 not VS 8.

Ebay has a refurbish vendor that sells a ton of the convertx for $35 they have Wincreator not the VS.

I bought and used the Convertx with Wincreator 2 not VS 8 but I have VS from another bundle from ADTECH

Capture with whatever software comes with you device, because it has been tweaked to work with it. Once the captured files are on your computer you can use any software you like to edit it.
