Just asking here if there might be anything patently issuesome in my using MF4SE and trying to join MPEG1 clips (29.97/32kbps) to MPEG 2 clips (29.97/48kbps).
The project process succeeds in converting the joined MPEG1/2's as I can play their ~VEtitleXXX.mpg's prety much w/o issue save some clips displaying pixelated indications of slight file corruption, but when it comes to burning them onto a DVD-R w/my combo multiwriter, it is failing w/o meaningfully denoting the failure cause.
Maybe what I'm attempting be simply more than MF4SE is capable of?
If any thoughts afforded (other than 'post the necessary forum stickey mentioned details') will be appreciated, and if neccessary, I can do that too.

Thank sever so much for the reply.
Read that article.
Could you explain why it is you're referring me to that article?
My combo multiwriter is plug and play and there are no updates available for it.
The recurring burn log entry keeps denoting...
Engine can't reuse playlist/vob/img and do pre-check action
..and I suspect that even though later the burn logs all denote...
Engine OnDoBurnAction Fail
..it seems that the can't re-use playlist entry is pointing to more of a MF4 issue?
I'm guessing that during my building of the project, my inadvertantly having "joined" more than 20 clips (20 max are inherant, but that can be over-ridden by joining two files, each having 20 clips) which led me to deleting that oversized joined file and re-building it into two "playlist" files.
This seems the more likely cause of the burn failure, especially since I'm seeing the burn log denoting can't reuse playlist.
Lastly, I doubt this could be any issue, but perhaps in that I initially saved the project's video in a TS folder, doing that to check if any issues in the joined MPEG1/2's, and it saved a the vobs to file at some 4.6Gb, but as burn athereafter failed, I've been trying to reduce the file size.

I take it that what you are attempting to do is what those DVD Recorders do,wguru wrote:......

in other words edit a re-writable DVD disc. am I right?
The link I pointed you to before contains various bits of information including
1. Firmware updates
2. Quality of blank DVD discs being used
3. Burn Speed.
No sir. Using my XPHome /SP2 windows, I'm utilizing downloaded internet video files (MS windows typed as "MPEG Audio/Video files" consisting of but two base formats, MPEG1 and MPEG2) and have assembled them into an MF4SE project by joining each individual downloaded clips into 20 clip playlist items.
Not much is disclosed about what MF4/MF4SE is capable of in the way of joining various formatted videos, so I'm learning the hard way by what works and doesn't.

Asked if any issues "joining" MPEG1 to MPEG2 vids
Still looking for yes/no answer w/respect to whether or not there might be any issues using MF4/MF4SE (or even w/other MF versions) to "join" clips into a single MF playlist.
I've joined MPEG1 and MPEG2 video clips and their ~VEtitleXXX.mpg (playlist temp files) playback w/o noticable issue as seen when playing back the ~files using WMPC.
Example: Clip 1(MPEG1) joined with Clip 2(MPEG2), etc.
MF's seems to properly re-format/convert MPEG1 vids into DVD recordable files (i.e.; 32Kbps audio to 48Kbps) and fps are not an issue as I believe all my joined clips containing MPEG1 vids seem to all be 29.97.
But MF's finalization burning process fails with error indicated to be dvdmf.exe mod name ulmpgtrans.ax
Again any yes/no answer as to whether or not I'm expecting too much of MF will be appreciated.
Apparrently I'm asking too much here as I've repeatedly built a project of videos and they repeatedly fail to burn.
I know its not my burner as it works just fine on other burn jobs, just not when MF is converting MPEG1 vids joined to MPEG2 vids.

Engine can't reuse playlist/vob/img and do pre-check action
Okay. Getting no answers here, and having tried all else save attempting the obvious (try to see if MF4 will export, thereby converting joined MPEG1 and MPEG2 combined vids), that attempt failed.
In that my MF4SE fails to even export the joined MPEG1&MPEG2 vids with project settings for DVD ouput, and in that although my initial burn failure did at least produce a VIDEO_TS folder of vobs, etc., my attempts to import it into Decrypter failed with prompt saying invalid file, so I was left to surmise that the VIDEO_TS folder's files may have been too big for a DVD5 disc.
I'm still doubtful if that's the case because as even though when I imported the files from the VIDEO_TS folder into Shrink (with my Shrink preferences set to max 4.4Gb DVD's), Shrink's "auto" setting only required the files be shrunk by 2.1% (for the 4.506Gb files) and the resulting ISO successfully burnt using Decrypter's burn engine.
This string's subject question still remains to be answered as no matter that I re-booted and reassembled the project once more, and this time all my clips consisted of MPEG2 vids (after I converted all the MPEG1 vids to MPEG2) and still the burn failed.
Initially I was seeing burns each failing with MF4SE requiring to be closed after clicking OK to the dvdmf.exe error popup indicating the faulting module name was ulmpeg.ax, but after my last re-building of the entire project's MPEG2 vids (total 140 vids compiled into the playlist's 7 clips) that burn attempt also failed.
All burn logs denote the same issue...
"Engine can't reuse playlist/vob/img and do pre-check action"
If there is some issue with MF4SE (or other versions as well) and its inability to join 20 vids, maybe it has something to do with their totaling about 15 mins for each of the so joined collection of short vids, and if not a bug in MF4SE (or my version isn't corrupted) then the last thing I am trying is to individually highlite each playlist staged vid and separately "join" them to one another (as opposed to my having been highliting up to 5 vids before clicking "join").
The last changes I made, hoping that maybe there could be some issues in my having had my MF4SE's working folder set to a desktop folder, which I only recently moved from My Documents (default folder) was to restore the working folder to My Docs.
I think this all really leads back to the biggest issue of all and that is with ULead failing and neglecting supply useful user guide, let alone website FAQ's sufficient enough to determine how to use the features in their program.
But thanks for the 30 odd reads and even the (thus far) replies avoiding any answer subject question..."Any issues converting joined MPEG1 & MPEG2 files?".
Surely somebody out there has to have at one time, converted MPEG1's into MPEG2's and/or joining the two formats and then tried burning w/MF4.
