problem playing video audio and music at same time

Post by Anne Lencsse »

I am very new at this programme. So please bear with me. I have put my video clip into the video line and dragged music onto the music line then recorded some audio. the problem being I can only play one line at a time. i.e. the video clip plays perfectly on its own but the other two lines don't. I am sure this must be a simple fix up. Maybe I have to link all three lines. Please can somebody help. I brought VideoStudio 10 Plus last April but have only just around to using it. :(

Just below the preview screen, you will see the words 'Project' and 'Clip'. The latter just plays back which channel in the timeline you have selected i.e. it will play back the main video channel if that is what you have highlighted, etc. But if you click on Project, it will play all channels back as though it was already in its final converted form. It might take a few seconds to start playing, depending on your computer resources, but it should play.

Problem with video and audio preview

Post by Anne Lencsse »

Maybe I have not explained myself propertly. I have the video and audio files on the correct tracks and when I wish to preview. I click the project button and I do not get the video showing with the audio playing. If the audio plays it has got a audio picture in the preview window. :?

If the audio plays it has got a audio picture in the preview window.
When that happens you are previewing in Clip Mode, and have an audio track selected.

What Step are you in? Certainly not Capture, there's Edit, Effect, Overlay, Title, Audio, and Share left.

Have you tried previewing in Storyboard view, with the Project mode selected? Of the 2 modes (Project and Clip), when you have one selected, hovering your cursor over the other will cause it to highlight. So if you have Project Mode selected the word Clip should highlight orange. If not, you're in Clip mode.

Have you checked to make sure you do not have the volume for the audio/music track reduced to zero? In the Audio Step, with the audio/music track selected, on the Music and Voice tab, does it show 100 in the box on the right (clip volume is displayed when hovering your cursor over it)?

There's no other settings in VS10+ that would affect the audio playing or not playing. So we need to look at other possibilities. In order to do so..
Please read this post, and return with as much of the information as possible.

unable to play video and audio files together in preview

Post by Anne Lencsse »

Thank you very much for your help. I was doing everything both replies suggested. In the end a friend suggested I look for an update as I am on vista. It appears my problems have gone and I have spent the evening playing with the programme and now it is a matter of learning to use it to the fullest. Once again many many thanks. :D
