Hi - very new here and have searched my question without success.
My Canon HG10 HD camcorder came with a Corel Application Disc with Ulead DVD Movie Factory SE. The program loaded fine and seems to work well with the video clips I moved from the camcorder to my computer. The program uses Coral GuideMenu to save the video clips to the computer and authoring to create and burn DVD's. No problems here.
I purchased VideoStudio 11 Plus and it also loaded without problem. I believe I read somewhere in a readme file to separate one Corel application from another...so Movie Factory SE is on my external HD while VS 11+ was loaded on the internal drive.
The problem: I've been unable to bring up the Movie Factory SE saved files in VS 11+ for editing or burning. I tried to capture the files from the camcorder also using VS without success.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

No need to load MovieFactory and VideoStudio onto separate hard drives.
See my signature block to see what I have installed all on the same hard drive.
Regarding the Canon HG10 HD camcorder there have been several posts within the last two weeks alone.

I want to thank each of you who took the time to respond to my question - how wonderful!
I took etech6355's advice and downloaded the 1st patch as well as the Power Pack this morning and I appear to be up and running. At first I had no sound...but figured out I had a mute button on the new keyboard - oops! Anyway, I used Canon's Backup Utility to load all of the video clips I'd taken onto my computers hard drive. Once downloaded I was able to access each video clip/file from VS 11+ in both the VideoStudio Editor and Movie Wizard. So I think I'm okay now. I did receive a Bonus disc with VS 11+ software but have not loaded it. Not certain what's on the disc.
I was not certain about installing the DirectX 9.0c version (November 2007) since I believe I have DirectX10. How does one go about checking which version you have? If the download is necessary how do I go about doing that?
Ken, in answer to your question the HG10 comes with a USB cable for connection to the computer and moving the video files. The HG10 uses a hard disk drive storage.
Again, thank you for the assistance, it is much appreciated.

If your running Directx 10 then that's Vista correct?
I'm pretty sure I installed Directx 9.0C Nov 2007 under Vista also. I don't know if this is for backward capability or not but XP definitely needs that update to run VS11+ and MF6+ correctly.
I think you do need to install it. If VS11+ cannot create chapters and certain functions don't work you need it, you'll definitely find out.
If anything make a restore point before installing.
Aggravating I can't remember installing it or not under Vista.
Pretty sure i did.
Maybe you know where I put my keys

The November 2007 DirectX update works with both 9.0c and 10. There are only a few aspects of it which work on 10, but they do work. And if you read the accompanying notes from Microsoft, it is clear it is meant for both XP (9.0c) and Vista (10)... I have applied it to 4 computers of mine, two of each running XP and Vista...
