Ulead 11 Plus made DVD - DVD player says not supported
Hi,
I have made DVD's for years using US7. No problem. Just upgraded to UVS11.
I imported, edited and created a DVD. It plays fine and sound is ok in editor screen.
Source is MPEG2 6000 and audio mpeg 1 audio layer 11 44100 and 224. The DVD I made was mpeg2 6000, mpeg audio 224 stereo. I also later tried dolby audio and LPMC audio.
It seems to burn ok, but when I put it in the DVD player it says not supported. Doesn't work in computer either. However it works in our older DVD player - but no sound! I have tried ticking dvd-vr compliant and not ticking it?????? WHY WON'T THEY PLAY?????

VS11 dvd's won't play
Hi, More info. I just tried the dvd on my computer at work - using Dell experience player. It plays ok, a but stuttery, but can hear sound and synced ok. But will not play on Aspire laptop, newer Philips DVD recorder/player, and only plays video on old philips DVD player? is their something missing from Aspire laptop?? BUt then why wouldn't play on newer player - all my previous made dvd's play ok on both??
VS11 dvd's won't play
More info, will play on work computer windows media player (xp) too, but no sound. Will not play on Aspire windows media player at all (vista).
Is VS11 not installed right? Got around install error by configuring all .exe as run as administrator and compatibility for xp. Didn't find out about hot fix until just now?
It seems to be a sound problem??

Last piece of info before I hand it over to you experts. The dvd will play perfectly on "zoom player" that comes with CCCP codec pack!

Hi, Thanks for reply. I am up to copy/version 5. Tried vr no vr. dolby, mpeg and lmcp? audio - no luck.
I burnt dvd from a previous video from same source using power director 6 - plays no problem on both dvd players.
Can't understand this dvd done using vs11 will play in zoom player/dell media (on work computer) perfectly,
but only video on windows media player (work computer) and old dvd player,
and nothing at all on laptop (aspire arcade or windows media player) and newer dvd player (hard drive recorder)????

The question is what type of DVD.
DVD+R / DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD+RW
and what speed did you burn the dvd at.
The other scenarios related to playing the dvd could all be different, no sound is a windows thing. You need to have it work first in a consumer dvd player.
Probably a bad burn or incompatible disk.
I happen to use DVD-R most of the time and burnt at 4X, it has the highest compatibility.

Hi,
I use dvd-r and burn at 8x. I used the same type of disc and process with Cyberlink power director 6 - no problem.
The no sound in windows confuses me I downloaded the CCCP codec package, which is supposed to allow you to play dvd's with windows media player. but no luck.
The settings are the same as I used before, only difference is using VS11, so I though there might be something wrong there?

Just to clarify something... I assume you did this correctly, because you had success with VS7... Did you tell Video Studio to make a "regular" PAL video-DVD? If so, your DVD should have a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder on it. A "Not Supported" error sounds (to me) like you don't have a standard video-DVD, or the player doesn't think you have a regular DVD.
A couple of things you can try just to make sure you are not getting a "bad burn" or have a bad batch of blanks... Try dragging the VIDEO_TS folder to a temporary folder on your hard drive. If that reports an error, you've got a burning problem, or a bad disc. (Don't worry about the AUDIO_TS folder. It's empty.) Nero CD-DVD Speed (FREE!!!) can do a similar more-extensive test. If these tests give good results, the discs are getting burned OK, but bad data is getting written to them... for some unknown reason.
The DVD should always play on the computer/burner that you burned it on (assuming you have DVD-player software). If it doesn't, there is something wrong and there is little point in trying it out on other computers/players.
There may be ways to prevent or fix the corruption, but I won't get into that just yet.

Time to start using erasable (R/W) discs... Or, uncheck the box that says Create To disc and check the box that says Create DVD Folders. That will create the DVD folders on your hard drive and you can test your results (with your DVD-player software) without burning an actual DVD.I am up to copy/version 5.
I've sometimes had some problems when editing MPEG-2 files... The edited MPEG-2 file can apparently become corrupted, and this can cause all sorts of weird problems. You might try making an unedited DVD (from the same source) to see if the editing is causing the problems.I imported, edited and created a DVD. It plays fine and sound is ok in editor screen.... Source is MPEG2 6000...

That's a little unusual. Some audio files do cause trouble... Try saving the audio as a 48kHz WAV file, and then use the WAV file as the audio source for your DVD. (Video Studio should have no trouble converting WAV files to LPCM, MPEG-2 audio, or AC3.)...audio mpeg 1 audio layer 11 44100 and 224.
Can you play commercial DVDs on the computer? The no sound in windows confuses me I downloaded the CCCP codec package, which is supposed to allow you to play dvd's with windows media player. but no luck.

VS11 dvd's won't play
Hi,
Thanks for all the advice, I will have a go and see how I get on. Note: video ts folder will copy to temp folder ok.
What's confusing is that the dvd will play on zoom player and dell media player perfectly - on work computer,
so the video/audio data must be on the disc. It just won't play on the laptop it was made on. Acer Arcade says "DTS not supported". Windows media player just says can't play.
??????

VS11 dvd's won't play
Hi, Sorry - Yes, can play all commercial dvd's on laptop using Acer Arcade. Can play my own "burnt from tv" movies to. Sometimes I get the message DTS not supported, but still plays. Sometimes sound is quiet and I have to turn up the master sound volume.
Don't like Acer Arcade as much as Windvd or Intervideo on my desktop.
Last month I did make a dvd from similar source on this laptop using Cyberlink, it worked ok - but cyberlink doesn't give you many burn options, hence the upgrade to VS11.
Will getting the latest patches help - hotfix and power pack?

Re: VS11 dvd's won't play
Lower your burn speed, ideally to 4x though some discs now will only go as low as 6x.dadio wrote:Hi,
