Can anyone Explain Ripple Effect
this is new in UL9 isn't it?? what does it do... any info would be greatly appreciated.
yes
yes, it's new in VS9.
Say you have a project, and you realized you wanted a certain clip inserted in the middle of it. The ripple will allow you to insert the new clip, and push everything (or select certain tracks) to move to the right of it on the timeline.

If it really works right, it will take away one of THE MOST FRUSTRATING features of previous versions of UVS: not being able to (practically) go back to video editing after having moved down through Overlay, Titles, Voice-over, and Background music track. Yes there was a "workaround" which involved clicking everything, selecting everything, and moving it; but faced with doing that over and over on a one- or two-hour video project, many of us simply said goodbye to editing the video track at a certain point and never went back to it -- out of necessity.
Now, hopefully, we'll be freed of that awful limitation!

Works in reverse too
Hi,
I forgot to mention that they have had this feature in their Advanced Editor for a while (MediaStudio Pro). I believe this is the first time it has been added to their VideoStudio Package.
I also forgot to mention that the process works in "Reverse" also. Say you finished your timeline, but realized you wanted to get rid of something in the middle. You can delete a small clip, or even make one of your clips shorter, and everything to the right of what you are doing will pull to the left on the VS timeline (provided you have the track selected in the Ripple pulldown menu).
