Video Capture Crashes ENTIRE System

Post by ulead@mediagalaxy.com »

Video Capture Crashes ENTIRE System whether it's Video Capture 7 or MediaStudio Pro > Capture, or anywhere I attempt to 'capture' video.

Yes, it used to work fine. Then POW.

I can OPEN VideoCapture Pro 7, when it's defaulted to playback, but the moment I click "capture" the whole system freezes.
I have a feeling that it's one of the capture settings [like a codec] but I can't get IN to change it cause everytime I open it to CHANGE it, it FREEZES requiring a reboot.

I'm stuck, ...

What next...uninstall....will that reset the registry, or will I have to manually adjust it, or....

Not easy to say. You don't give a clue as to HOW you use it (DV, analogue, codec etc.) or which version or OS you are using. The first thing I would do, if I were you is to uninstall MSP, delete all references to it, ANYWHERE in the computer, including in the registry, re-install it, update with SP3 and I'll give you a 95:1 chance it will work.

Most complaints of this type were a result of early use of SP2 with SP1 already installed.

Try capturing with another app like MS Movie Maker which should be on your system, if not you can download it from MS for free. At the very least you can determine if it's just a problem related to MSP or possibly a system issue.
