I too, am having this issue.
Revisiting a project authored in DVDWS only 6 months ago that includes AC3 files both in stereo and 5.1, I can no longer add/insert the AC3 files. When I tried opening the .dws project file it hung. When I reauthored the project...(luckily simple 1 short video with 2 audio options) the program hangs when I try to insert the ac3 files. As an experiment, other file types such as .wav and .mp3 load fine. I've reinstalled DVDWS, deleted whatever codec packs I find...but no go so far. I'll try installing DVDWS on another computer just to get this project done and try some more to reslove this. .....Any progress and I'll post.

Okay, installed DVDWS on another computer, didn't get around to installing any update patches...imported project file, relinked the vid and AC3 audiofiles and everything worked as expected...burnt .iso...project done......
Had a little play with importing other files and no probs....so it seems some codec pack or maybe programme/player/video converter has upset DVDWS ability to use AC3 files on my main computer...
I'm not quite due/ready to reformat my system yet, so I will try to uninstall non necessary relevant programmes and see what happens.....
I have recently trialled and installed some video converter programmes so that's where I'll start.
I have a workaround with other computer so not urgent for me...but will post any progress/success.

I have uninstalled one or two Video Converter programmes I had recently installed on my main computer, but still the problem with DWS2 and AC-3 files persists. Of course uninstalling may not in fact clear all files or .dlls.....
I have also recently purchased and installed Sony Vegas which includes a Dolby Digital AC-3 encoder, but as some online places are selling Vegas and DVDWS2 as a package, I would imagine others would have posted in this and other forums any problems. So, I'm stumped.....
Probably in about 6 months time, it'll be time to do a system reformat, but with the workaround I currently have (other computer), and the fact that it's only importing separate AC-3 audio files that's the problem....AC-3 embedded in the MPEG video seems to work just fine....it's not a big problem.
If anything becomes apparent or the problem is resolved, I'll post. I'd appreciate a post if anyone solves the problem also.
Cheers
