Vista Issues

Post by champp34 »

I bought this program to put together a slideshow for my upcoming wedding. I read a lot of good things about this program but have had nothing but issues using it with Vista Home Premium after purchasing version 4, downloading and installing the program.

I read the help topics, have installed the patch, but continue to have issuess when running the program and attempting to play even a very small slideshow, with 6 files. I am looking to have this be as easy as possible, but I am getting vey frustated with the program already. PLEASE HELP, I really do not want to have to pay for a service call. Thanks.

Does this program even work with VISTA or did I just purchase something that will be completely useless to me?

Welcome to the forums,

Unfortunately no it is not Vista certified. From Ulead's Website:
System Requirements

*
This software has been engineered for the Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology for an outstanding home entertainment experience.
Intel® Pentium® 4 1.3 GHz Processor (Pentium 4 2.0 GHz recommended)
*Microsoft® Windows® 98SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows XP
* 256MB RAM (512MB recommended)
* 200MB of available hard drive space for program installation
* CD-ROM drive
* True-color or High-color display and monitor
* Windows-compatible display with at least 1024 x 768 resolution (small font is recommended)
* Windows-compatible mouse or pointing device
* Windows-compatible sound card (recommended)
* CD or DVD Burner (for burning slideshows to a disc)
* Printer (if you want to print CD index/label)
* Scanner (if you want to acquire printed images)
* Microsoft® DirectX 9 or above
Try disabling Vista Aeros, and possible the UAC (User Account Control). Then run the program under Compatibility Mode for WinXP. Any one of those, a combination of, or all should help get it to run on Vista. However no guarantees..

Vista - System Lock Ups

Post by Mike P »

OK, so I read a review on line and bought the product because the reviewer was using Windows Vista and liked it. Who thought, since Vista has not been out but a few weeks, that your newest products wouldn't support Vista. Never even crossed my mind. That said, do I throw it in the garbage and buy the competitions product, or is there hope for the situation - VERY SOON!
I do not have the luxury of waiting months.

I run Vista Premium Home on the newest, biggest system. The installation went smooth. The software seemed to run perfect. It allowed me to build a DVD slide show for a wedding customer - smoothly - right up to the point I used your stock music to attach to it. In the themes, modify, custom panel. Then I try to preview it and - from that point on it locks up. Can't go forward. Have to use Task Manager to shut the program and then I reopen it. In the initial gallaries the slide show previews and runs. But as soon as the final preview panel is turned on - the computer locks up completely. I have installed the private patch - nada. Nor do I intend to run the computer in an older format after all this time and money and software. So - is my problem likely something else - - something that can be fixed - or VISTA. And if Vista, is the Ulead position that there will be no early compatibility patches? I have read all the forums and it seems to come down to this. Thanks.

Firstly we are not employees of the software company, we are customers like yourself. To the best of my knowledge there are no plans to update CD&DVD Picture Show which is shown as a phase out product.

Please view this link

Then if you hover your mouse over the product and version, in the status bar you will see the address of a link. The one relating the CD&DVDPS 4 has the following link:
