Saving edited video as AVI rather than VSD

Post by Perry »

I have captured a few minutes of video from a Sony DV camera using VS 10. VS originally captured the video in AVI format, but when I edit the video and try to save it, I only see options for saving the video as a VSD project. Can anyone explain if and how I can save the edited video back as a new AVI or MPEG file. I want to be able to email the video snippet to family members for viewing in Quicktime or Windows Media Player, but still be able to incorporate the file into future VSD projects.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I take it you mean a VSP file? That stands for VideoStudio Project file. It is essential a list of instructions, telling where this clip goes, where that clips go, what transitions are used, etc. It is not a video file.

To create a new video file there are a couple ways. If you simply want to save a clip (as a new clip) after you have trimmed it just click Clip>Save Trimmed Video.

If you want to convert (render) your file to another type (avi>mpeg2, avi>wmv, etc.) go to Share>Create Video File.
