I have seen this subject posted before, but have not seen a response to this specific issue.
When burning a DVD, I get the message, "The project content over the limitation of the project size, continue will enlarge the project size to let this action can keep going, continue?"
I allow the process to continue and build the DVD folders on the Hard Drive.
The resulting DVD Folder size is substantially below the claimed required space and will fit on a DVD.
Here is a specific example:
Input file was created from a VHS tape using ADSTech DVDExpressDX2 (USB Connection). The capture software is Capture Wizard Version 3.8.0.12. The output from CapWiz was to DVD Format (MPEG-2). Resulting file size was 3.02 GB (3,251,296,256 bytes). The movie length is 1 Hour, 47 Minutes.
To create the DVD Folders, I am using VideoStudio 9.00.0100 SE DVD
The movie is edited in VideoStudio to create nine chapters. Motion Menus are used requiring 25 MB.
Prior to creating the DVD Folders, VideoStudio claimed it needed 5.7 GB burning to an external USB 2 drive with 133.6 GB available.
The final size of the DVD folders created was 3.07 GB (3,299,784,704 bytes) and fit very nicely onto a standard DVD (burned with Nero).
This is not too big a problem for shorter movies. I just create the folders on the hard drive and burn using Nero. However, I have had some movies that were long enough that VideoStudio would not create the folders at all because it claimed that the resulting files would exceed a double layer DVD. I had to do all the editing and processing using Nero (which is not nearly as user friendly as VideoStudio).
Is there some way to get VideoStudio to correctly determine the DVD Folder size?
In Summary:
Describe your problem:
VideoStudio determines required space which exceeds the actual space needed.
Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?):
VHS movie ripped using Capture Wizard Version 3.8.0.12 to create DVD Format (MPEG-2). Resulting file size was 3.02 GB (3,251,296,256 bytes). The movie length is 1 Hour, 47 Minutes.
