[videostudio 11] can't capture video and audio at same time

I connected a VCR to my pc with a composite cable for video and connected the audio to the line in of the sound card. When I capture a video with videostudio 11 the video is captured and I hear the sound, but when I playback there's no sound recorded. When I record only sound in the audio tab, the sound is recorded succesfully.
I can be wrong but shouldn't it be possible to get video and audio when capturing ?

Some extra info: when I'm in the capture tab and click the options button and select video properties then in the audio field it say's "Audio sourse: PCI audio" and below input source is blank. I can't change the settings from both of these fields.
