VS 11 will not edit wmv format

Post by bilc »

I have a question . I'm trying to edit WMV video format files in VS 11. The clip loads and I see the clip, but when I go to edit it the clip will not run. I can't delete the clip. To close down VS-11 I must use CTRL/ALT/DELETE. Can anyone shed some light on this.

Can you edit or preview one of the sample clips supplied with VS11? Those are in WMV format. I would say that the video file you're trying to edit is corrupt. Where did the clip originate? Try getting another copy of the video file and see if that does that same.

You could also try running it through WMM (windows movie maker), and creating another file. That might clean up what ever is causing VS to choke on it.

WMV is a distribution format. It is not meant to be edited.
