Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)

and end up with these files
HV000I01 BACK UP FILE OF THE IFO 64.0KB
HV001I01 BACK UP OF THE FILE IFO 128 KB
HV000I01 DVD MOVIE INFO 64.0KB
HV001I01 DVD MOVIE INFO 128 KB
HV001T01.EVO EVO FILE 976MB
HV001T02.EVO EVO FILE 128MB
HV001T03.EVO EVO FILE 976MB
HV001T04.EVO EVO FILE 446MB

whats missing ?
Your operating system, XP/Vista?
Type of DVD you burnt?
DVD+R or DVD-R or Other?
Playing them back? How? Computer software or HD-DVD player? What make & model HD-DVD Player? Toshiba/Samsung?
Did you burn a dvd or create dvd folders then burn the dvd using other software?
Burnt from an ISO file?
Burning Speed of DVD?

So far, all we know is you made a disk and here are the files.

I can only take a guess with the "Wrong Format" display meaning that one of the formats/codecs was passed through the encoder and not converted to hd-mpeg2 video.
A HD-DVD burnt to standard dvd must use mpeg2 video.
Maybe one of your source videos are compliant for a true HD-DVD but not on a 3XDVD.
To force the source videos to be re-coded to hd-mpeg2 click on the "GEAR" Icon and Uncheck "XDisc" & "Do not convert compliant xxxxxxxx"
You do this when your source videos are NOT hd-mpeg2 and you want them converted.

To help, using Vista copy these files from the dvd to your local harddisk:
HV001T01.EVO EVO FILE 976MB
HV001T02.EVO EVO FILE 128MB
HV001T03.EVO EVO FILE 976MB
HV001T04.EVO EVO FILE 446MB

Rename them from EVO to MPG
Then open MF and insert them into the timeline.
Right click on each one and view their video/audio properties, they should read what you posted above which was:
24 bits, 1440 x 1080, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(HDDVD-PAL), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 18000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)

If these files do not display the properties that you set as the encoder properties could be the problem. They should all say Mpeg2 Video and Dolby Audio.

If you make hd-dvd folders on your harddisk is OK. But when you use Nero to burn them you must tell Nero to make a UDF Only disk by selecting the "Custom -> Manual Partitioning -> UDF 2.6" (2.5 may also work).
If you don't burn the dvd as UDF 2.6 the player thinks it's a data disk.

So copy the hd-dvd back, rename the videos extensions to mpeg and take a look at their video/audio properties. If one of them is NOT mpeg2 is the reason for the "Wrong Format".

I'd like to add that this statement I made "Forces" a re-encoding of the original source videos. SO, if your source video is already HD-DVD Compliant and in the hd-mpeg2 video format then those switches should be checked ON.
Having MF Re-Encode or not Re-encode:
To force the source videos to be re-coded to hd-mpeg2 click on the "GEAR" Icon and Uncheck "XDisc" & "Do not convert compliant xxxxxxxx"
To have the source videos Not be re-encoded IF they are complaint then click on the "GEAR" Icon and Check ON "XDisc" & "Do not convert compliant xxxxxxxx" Options.

hi again ok well i did what you said changed the .EVO file to MPEG then burnt with nero as a udf 2.6 and tested it on the lappy and it work fine with nero show it also showed video with windows media player but no audio but when i had a go with the toshiba hd player it still came back with wrong dvd format so i did another copy with mf but with the xdisc and non compliant boxes ticked sadly with the same results so i then had a look at the codec pack i have and removed it and used a different type so now gona have another go unless you can advise on a codec pack .the one i have just installed is the cole2k media pack .so if i cant resolve this issue and im very gratefull for all your help i might just bin the idea of trying to make hd disks or is mf picky at what type of media it wants to convert the main one i use are xvid or divx all around 700mb one thing is today i converted the whole file with mf in hd mode took 6 hours and at 98% it came back with unexpected error and stopped so i didnt want to waist anymore time so i stripped a small clip and converted fine but no play on the toshiba
anyway thanks again
