OK. Good news and bad news:
Good: I figured what is going on. The BD30 doesn't like any background music on the menus. I removed the music and it now plays the menu just fine.
Bad: I tried different music formats instead of the default .mpa. No dice.If I use a wmv file , for example, the problem is the same.
I only tested with or without bacground music. I didn't play with the music duration, defaulted at 20 seconds, but I think the BD30 doesn't expect any sound during the menu. I customized a menu with different title and even using background image and everything is fine. It's just the background music.

I already have the latest BD30 firmware, thanks.

AVCHD with Menu on DVD+R works too!
To etech6355:
Yes, with Menu and 18MBS, it works even better. Only thing is that I have to use two pass conversion, may be because I also have a digit picutre slide show?
You are most helpful. Thanks a lot!

Menu does not run smoothly
Hi, etech6255:
The AVCHD DVD+R with Menu runs smoothly using InterWinDVD8 on my computer, but not on LG Blu-ray/HD DVD player. It works but has a lot of small problems such as bad display, broken background music, pulsing on buttons, and so on. Is there something that I can do to make a better Menu, or the program needs a patch?
Anyway, I understand that nothing is perfect. Right now I am just happy to be able to play my video on HD TV with HD quality.
Best Regards
