when creating the DVD,burning in process, not hd or blue ray just regular dvd, it will go for 11 minutes everytime, then when it gets to 26% complete in the timeline everytime, it will just stop completely show a pop up box and it states "unspecified error" [5.0.0] I have cleared all temp files, cleaned my cache, I even tried not having a menu screen on the disc, just straight video play. still same thing. its very frustrating. I have only had VS11 for about a month and have had no problems with any other projects.

What I would start looking at is the workflow being used. Are you creating a DVD Compatible MPEG-2 video file (Share>Create Video File) before entering the burning module, which would be Share>Create Disc? If the latter, it is possible however can cause problems, because VS must create the MPEG-2 video files, while also having to create the menus, chapters, and everything else associated with authoring a DVD. So when this fails, you need to try creating a video file first. A Recommended Workflow has been developed to help guide you through the mine-field of video editing, as it pertains to Ulead's VideoStudio Programs. They can be viewed here:
Recommened WorkFlow for VideoStudio
Next if in fact you are following the recommended workflow, investigate the possibility of a corrupt video file. MPEG video files can become corrupt, and while they may seem alright, because they can be played in Windows Media Player or any other, when it comes to editing and burning to DVDs, this corruption can cause it to fail.
Finally we don't know what format of video files you are working with. Right-click on a video file in the editor's time-line or library, choose Properties and post them back here please. There are video formats that are very highly compressed, and actually are not meant to be edited. While it is done, they tend to be very difficult to edit with a great deal of success.

thanks guys, I have to leave tonight for work, flying over to that desert and back on sunday. I will check out everything when I return and give you a heads up display. I did end up just creating a saved video file for the project and saving it as an mpeg so I could atleast show it on the computer to the wife last night. I do appreciate all the help and hope to learn more in the future from you guys.

UPDATE................after I posted, I tried the flow chart and read up on sjj's post with the flow chart and as I said above I had made a video saved to hard drive. I started a new project with the rendered video, shared to create dvd and did everything as I had done before and it worked. I may have overloaded it or something. I don't know. I will have to check it out further when I return. But Its done. I will start saving my projects to video 1st and then create the dvd second.
thanks
