best way to film 20 or 30 quotes
I have a movie I am making. At the end, I am going to have 30 quotes and music.
I want each quote to roll up the screen and then sit there for a few seconds to let the viewers digest the quote.
then I will move on to the second quote and so forth.
Using Titles in VS is clumsy to say the least.
Can anyone suggest a clean way to accomplish (even if it means using another program (free or buy), because trying to get VS 11 Plus to handle titles easily is like herding cats.

I don't do a whole lot with titles, but I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult to achieve what you're after in VS.
One way might be to make a title for the first quote, and sort out the animation to your satisfaction.
You could then save that to your title library and insert it again, editing the contents each time for the next quote.
That way all you have to do is sort out the initial animation, and then type in all of the quotes - I can't see how any other program would make it too much simper than that - you'd still have to type in all the quotes, which is the largest part of the work involved.
The above should work OK if all the quotes are similar-ish in length, requiring a similar pause for reading before moving out. Otherwise you can drag the titles on the timeline to increase or reduce their duration, though that would also change the scroll speed.

the problem is, if you drag the timelines out to make it longer, the text goes up even sssssllllllooooooowwwweeeeerrrrrr and then bam, it leaves the screen at the very end with no pause. Big problem in my mind.
You can not have variable length titles going up at the same speed and holding for the last few seconds (of the last frame)

So there is a significant amount of variation in the quote lengths.
It seems that although VS11 has added some additional options for titling - like being able to angle the title, other features are no longer supported. For example, it used to be possible to specify the length of the pause - and that no longer appears to be possible. That's a seriously retrograde step as far as I'm concerned.
You can get around this by using each title twice. You use animation on the first one to get the title into position, and then insert the title again with the animation disabled. You can then independently vary the duration of the animation and the amount of time the whole quote remains on screen. It's probably fiddlier than you'd like but it does work.
Edit: you beat me to it Jeff as I was trying it out!

I use a third-party titling application for some of my videos. You might download the free trial and see if it will work for you..

I don't think so. At least not in my version of VS11/11.5+ -- or perhaps I misunderstood what 2Dogs was saying...
The OP is wanting to use Fly, rolling up the title from bottom to top but a pause to read it. In the TT animation button, you can still choose No Pause, Short, Intermediate, and Long, plus -- what I assume we are talking about here -- User Defined. And as far as I am aware, the User defines the period he wants by dragging the IN/OUT triangular markers under the preview screen to the length he wants. If he wants the pause more towards the end, then he simply moves those markers more towards the end point.
If he wants the speed to be the same in each, then he would have to make 30 consecutive titles all set for the same period and with the markers all more or less set to the same pause duration.

You're right Ken!
I'll put it down to a senior moment - and I haven't used any titles lately. When I see the "TT" symbol to the right of the animation "Type" box, I instinctively think "TrueType" rather than "Customize animation attributes", so I simply missed it! I'm very happy to learn that the feature still exists!
For the OP, however, if he wishes to have the same scroll speed for all his quotes, he might need to insert each title three times for each quote - firstly fly to centre with no pause, then a static one, followed by fly to top with no pause. He could then independently control all the durations. Probably messier than he would like though.

That's basically what is in the link I posted, but the OP doesn't want to go thru that much "work".For the OP, however, if he wishes to have the same scroll speed for all his quotes, he might need to insert each title three times for each quote - firstly fly to centre with no pause, then a static one, followed by fly to top with no pause. Well if making 3 separate titles is too much work imagine how hard using another app would be.
