Is this Normal???

Post by roryos »

Using Win Tv Hauppage Pvr 150 i record 1hr show
i then get a type MPG. file of a about 220 MB.
i then edit to about 50 min. in MF SE 3 and burn <highest quality>

saying its gonna take time to convert <about 2hrs> turns out a very good dvd of the program!
then it leaves me with a file type MPG. <larger than the original> of about 250 MB in the Ulead temp folder< labled convert> which is the edited version!!!!

Very happy with the results but i would like to know if this is the best way ,does it sound normal or is there a quicker better way any tips????? not sure i would mess with success anyway just curious??????????? i know if it aint broke dont fix it!!!

Quicker Way

Post by GeorgeW »

The quicker way is to capture to compliant specs for the type of disc you are creating (VCD/SVCD/DVD), and then tell MovieFactory to use the captured video "asis" (i.e. no re-encoding is needed). This will build the disc very quickly (instead of 2 hours).

btw, something tells me you are capturing at very low bitrates for an hour to be only 220mb (did you mean GB, or really MB)?

Asis

In MovieFactory, hit that little gear icon, and then check the box that says "Do Not convert compliant mpeg files". As long as your captured files are compliant, it will use them "asis"

If you right click on one of your captued video, select the Properties, what does it say for the captured video attributes?

resolution, bitrate, audio type, etc...
