Video Studio 8 :Extending the Camcorder film to the PC

Post by wolfman76 »

I have a problem i just got a firewire card connected to my PC and when i add a film to my computer through Video studio 8 i go to capture select DVD and start capture about a minute later a DV transcodeing comes up then it finishes and i have to do the rest all over again and it starts to say not responding does anyone know how to change this so the DV Transcodeing doesnt interfere with the video that im sending to my computer so i can copy the entire tape instead of a minute? hope someone can help me out.

If you are capturing via firewire you want to be capturing DV-AVI, not MPEG2. What is happening is when you capture to DVD (MPEG2) your computer has to convert it on the fly and apparently it is not fast enough to do that. Set it for DV-AVI and you should be ok. BTW, DV-AVI is the best format for editing anyway.
