Mpeg optimizer grayed

The simple question, when the mpeg optimizier is grayed in vs11 plus?

I use vista home premium.

Welcome to the forums,

Simple answer, When you're not using MPEG video clips. For example if you have DV clips, the optimizer obviously is of no use, since you don't have MPEG video clips to optimize.

I discovered one further cause of the optimiser being grayed out - although it may not be relevant to your situation.

When importing from a DVD-VR disc, VS automatically assigned a long default name to the captured video.

When I renamed the clip, removing the "tilde" character "~", the mpeg optimiser was enabled.
