Photos added to Video results in Blu Ray lock-up
Processing video in VS11+ to render to avchd, followed by burning a standard disc with Nero 8 results in a Blu Ray disc playable on PS3. However, the adding of photos in the editing process, results in a Blu Ray disc that locks up. Any suggestions?. This has occured on multiple projects.
Nero will recode the avchd video, it may be using smart-render but still alters the video time-stamping.
Nero uses a max bit-rate of 14,000kbs, that's Max including the audio, so when you encode in another program to use in Nero you have to use 13,000kbs in the other program, otherwise Nero will recode them again..
I would use VS11+ to burn the AVCHD Disk and see it the lockup occurs.
Exactly how are you encoding the pictures and video into avc/h264 video, are you exporting the video to the timeline from VS11+?
What are your encoder settings?

Starting a new project in VS11+ by adding the avchd formated file to the timeline, results in playing the file without a lockup. Since VS11 will not burn avchd to Blu Ray on a SD, I am forced to use Nero 8 to create the Blu Ray on an SD.
I added the photos from the library to the timeline between video clips. The settings in VS11 were the default settings when the project is the capture from an HD source, Canon HV-20 camcorder.
I do not know how to change the rendering to 13,000. I have make numerous SD videos over the years with VS11, and never had a problem

VS11+ burns AVCHD, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, DVD, SVCD and VCD's.
You need to install the 2 updates to VS11+, don't install the Hotfix, not needed since your already using it.

Install this first:
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Update Pack (Release Date: 2007/11/6)
Then the PowerPack, you need to have a user account at ulead and register to get this update which enables burning in the HD Formats.
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus Power Pack (Release Date: 2007/11/8)
Here's some information to burn avchd disks in VS11+:
Under VS11+ Timeline Preferences to set encoding quality to "BEST".
Goto the Burning Module and burn a AVCHD Disk, "Share -> Create Disk -> AVCHD.
The burning module is like a separate program inside of VS11. The burning module also has "Preferences" so under Preferences assign another "Working Directory". Then under the GEAR Icon click on "Change Mpeg Settings -> Customize". I've been using:
Compression/Quality = 100%
15MBS CONSTANT bit rate, Dolby 5.1@448kbs
1440x1080 Upper_Field_First.
In the burning module click on the lower left Icon and make a custom template with these settings. Then when you click on the GEAR Icon your template is listed, just select it. Faster for future projects. Before I actually burn the disk I also exit the burn module, save the project and go back into the burn module. This way if something errors out I don't have to go through making chapters & menus again.
If your source videos are HDV then 18MBS Variable Bit Rate also produces a great High Def Video with a smaller file size.

THANKS
My combined video and photo slide shows are now Blu Ray compatible, and the quality is stunning.
However, I did not get the Dolby 5.1 audio option in the burn segment. The music track that I added for the slide show segment is gone, but the audio of in the video segments is fine.
Apparently I need guidance with adding a music track.

Continuation -- Discovered that the music track did not get rendered into the avchd formated .mpg file.
What settings do I need to add to get the music track during the photo slide show portion of the combined video and audio project? The audio portion of the video track from the HD camcorder is playing properly.
