Hi and welcome.
You have connected to the PC correctly via firewire for your Mini DV type camera.
Open VS, choose the capture tab. Make sure your Mini DV camera is set in "play" mode... And proceed to capture.
With VS I'm sure you will be tempted to at least out some titles and edit out some video you don't want.

Do you only get this error when using the DV to DVD wizard?imadork8317 wrote:I have a JVC GR-D350U, and i have it hooked up through ieee 1394. when i start VS11 it and click dv to dvd wizard. i get the following message

Can you successfully capture by opening VS and then going to the capture tab instead?
Have you loaded the latest DirectX 9.0c update?

To furture clarify, I have my current device set to MS 1394 Device Control
Offset is 0
Current capture plug-in is IVI Capture Component, none other avaliable.
Well, from the error information it looks like there is a problem with IviAvCtl.dll.
On my pcs, I note that there are different versions of the file.
I have the InterVideo editing program WinDVD Creator 2 installed, and that copy of the file is dated 10/18/2004 and 1.261 KB, appearing in both C:\Program Files\WCreator 2 and C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\Bin.
A more recent version, dated 3/6/2007 and 2,802 KB is found in C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\AVControl.
On one of my laptops, on which I have the DVD player WinDVD Platinum 4 there are also two copies of the file, dated 27/11/2002 and 833 KB in C:\Program Files\InterVideo\WinDVD4PR and C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\Bin.
You might do a search on your pc - and should find the same size file in the C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\AVControl folder. In your post, however, the file version is correctly shown as 3.1.24.9. so maybe it's just a long shot. If the file isn't there or is of a different size, you might try re-installing the program or even inserting a copy of the file into the folder.
To satisfy my own curiosity, I'm going to try substituting the various versions of the file into my Ulead folder to see if they all work for capture....
Update: I substituted both copies of IviAvCtl.dll from the other folders into the Ulead folder - and was still able to successfully capture video from my miniDV camcorder.

If i try to capture with windows movie maker, it says "an unknown error has occured" it doesn't crash, but no matter what i try that error keeps coming up. Every now and then i will get an error that says "Class not registered"skier-hughes wrote:Can you capture with any other software, such as movie maker, already on yor pc or something like Windv?
