Windows Media Player Digital Copy Protection Error

Post by Vic A »

I need help solving a strange error message that is being generated by Windows Media Player 11 running under XP. The message is: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card."

I thought that by installing the Intervideo DVD codec (XPack) I would solve the problem. But the codec does not work in WMP.

The DVDs in question are standard purchased movies. They run fine in other players and PCs. The DVDs also work well using the miniplayer that comes with the Intervideo Xpack.

All video drivers, etc. have been updated to most current versions.

My system also is running the Happauge HVR TV tuner. Is it possible that the tv tuner codecs are interferring with the intervideo codec?

Any ideas would be appreciated. I have re-installed WMP, and I get the same message.

Thanks,
Vic
