I've mixed both and the project works fine in VS, the problem comes in rendering. I've times the slides to change with the beat of the music and this works fine in project but when rendered in mpeg its just a little out of sync. How can I fix this up

However, off the top of my head, I would suspect that the video you used was already mpeg-2 and you were rendering to mpeg-2 and thus SmartRender was enabled. This is known to cause out of sync problems for some people so you could try rendering again but this time make sure SmartRender is not enabled.
