Ulead created HD DVD won't play on HD DVD player

Post by minmin »

:(
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus successfully created a HD DVD disc for me. But when I tried to play it on LG HD DVD/BLURAY player, it recongnized it as HD DVD disc, then showed ERROR message and ejected the disc out.
I can only play the EVO files from the file folder "HVDVD_TS" on the created HD DVD using InterVideo WinDVD8, but the sound quality was terrible, and of course, it is not the way a HD DVD disc supposed to work.
Someone out there please help.
Thank you very much in advance.

Try lowering the burn speed to 4x or the lowest available if you cannot go down that low.

Ulead VideoStuddio 11 Plus created HD DVD Won't Play

Post by minmin »

I tried to use the lowest speed (which was 4X) to burn another HD DVD. The successfully created HD DVD still does not play on LG HD DVD player. As before, the player recognizes it as a HD DVD disc, but then gives ERROR message and ejects the disc.
I am wondering if this product ever works for creating HD DVDs. Is there any one out there ever created a HD DVD that worked?

Ulead VideoStuddio 11 Plus created HD DVD Won't Play

Post by minmin »

I have installed Hot Fix 01 and Power pack before I burnt the disc.
Do I need HD DVD blank disc to burn HD DVD instead of regular DVD media in order to play back HD video on my LG Blu-ray/HD DVD player? I understand that advanced content HD DVD disc realizes more interactivity in adition to the extension of audio and video realized by standard content HD DVD disc.
Also, I saw some discussions in forum in reply of my problem mentioned that they played back their HD DVD on Toshiba HD DVD player.
My LG Blu-ray/HD DVD player supports MPEG2, MPEG5 AVC, and SMPTE VC1 advanaced video codecs. It plays all the HD DVD and Blu-ray disc I bought from stores.
So where is the problem? I don't want to buy another HD DVD player or Blu-ray player. What should I do?

You should answer back in this thread:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 7f1a6dbf8b

Even though the HD-DVD spec says avc/h264 or V1 those formats have to be burnt to a true HD-DVD.
I'm not familiar with the LG features.

Try DVD-R dvd's, not DVD+R's.
If they don't work use your source videos to create an AVCHD disk. The is the Blu-Ray equivalent of the HD-DVD burnt to DVD except it uses avc/h264 video. The avchd format is burnt to a standard dvd-r disk. The Blu-Ray part of the LG should be able to playback avchd disks. They can also hold twice the amount of video compared to the HD-DVD disk, only thing is it takes time to encode them to avc/h264 video.

Please don't double post. Now you have 4 or 5 people in two threads asking you questions and giving you advice. It gets very confusing.

IT WORKS FINALLY! I LOVE IT!

:D
irst of all, I am sorry that I posted my problem several places. I must be so desperat.
To all of you, I thank you!

Thanks to all of you. I really benefit from all of your advices and discussions. You make me think.
It finally works for me!!! Great!!! Now I love Ulead Videostudio 11 Plus a lot!!!
This time I tried not to create menu. Using just regular DVD-R, before burning AVCHD disc, under Setting and Options, in Advanced setting, I chose Create index file for MPEG seeking performance (default setting this choice was not choosen). Under Project Setting, Under Field Type, I chose to use all the options including Do not convert compliant MPEG files, Support X-Disc, and Two-pass conversion (default setting did not select any of these). Also, under Project Setting, in Change MPEG Settings, using Customize-Compression-Audio bit rate, I changed default 384kbps to 448 kbps. I am not really sure which of the above helped. I might use elimination process to find out or any of you can tell me to save my time and DVDs.
My DVD-R works great on my LG BH100 Blu-ray/HD DVD player!
I finally get my own HD video on HD TV! Great video and audio quality, exactlly what I want!
I am very very happy!!!
The reason I chose to buy Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus was to create HD quality video using the HD video I recorded from Sony HDRUX7 camcorder. Since the AVCHD created by the software came with the HD camcorder did not play on my LG player as the manual mentioned it would, I had to search for something that would do the job.
Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus works!!! Thanks a lot!!!
Now I am looking forward to my next trip and I am going to enjoy all the projects that follow.
Thanks a lot everyone!!! :D
