Unable to save my templates and need help please

Post by dollaz »

Hi Guys, I need some help. I am new to the VideoStudio 11 world as I just installed it recently and am reading through all these posts on the best way to set up my environment. I have a Sony HDR HC3 HighDef camcorder and I am going to attempt to capture my video via its firewire cable. I read the post "Capture & edit in HD" and "Capture setting for HDvideo going to DVD? Etech??" and both threads say to:

Click ¡§OK¡¨ & save your template

but when i finish modifying the new template and then click ok i see my template in the list but there is no option to save, only New, edit, delete, close, and add. So i hit close because thats the only when that looks as if it makes sense and then go back to the "Make Movie Templates Manager" and it disapeared and only shows the 2 default ones. I tried everything and it is a bit discouraging :( Can you experts help me with this one?

When you use the Make Movie Templates Manager it will add the template to the list of available templates when you go to the share tab.

hi SJJ,

I checked the shared tab and its never there either. So I dont see it in the movie maker manager after i finish creating it and then opening the movie manager again, its as if it disapears. Then i tried what you said; I made the template clicked ok, then went to share dropped a video in there, clicked on the tools icon again to go to the movie manager and its still not there. I just keep seeing the 2 default ones. I even tried to change these but it still goes back to the default settings again. it never saves.

Hi

When you installed Video Studio did you install the extra drivers from the Utilities option.
The Indeo driver is required.
I do not know if this driver affects the Make Movie Managers performance, but its worth a try.
Otherwise I would consider a ¡¥Clean Install¡¦ of Video Studio.

By the way the image you supplied should show the new created template.
Then Close.
The template should be available in Share-Create Video File ( at the bottom of the list adjacent to ¡¥Custom¡¦)

Also check that your pc has the latest Dirextx installed

I had the same problem, and discovered there was a read only file that had to be changed.

This file is located in c:\documents settings\name (eg john cooper)\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0

In there, there is a file called MovieTem.DAT.

If you right click, select properties, you may find that the READ ONLY option is checked, just uncheck it, and click OK. Closed down VS11, then reopen it.

If this does not work, then the only thing is to totally de-install it, remove/delete any folder. Go into REGEDIT, look for any Ulead folder related to Video Studio (as you may have other ulead products), and delete those folders. Then re-install your application.

Good Luck.

Hi

Cheers J F Cooper.

I have just tried the read only option for VS 10, and it does work as you say.

Will have to remember that one.

hoping it works for ¡¥dollaz¡¦

Hi Everyone,

Now I am getting bumbed out. I tried all suggestions from re-installing (plus cleaning reg), checking the movietem.dat file for read only access (by the way I have Windows Vista so I dont have a documents and settings/account folder but I do have a C:\Users\my account\Documents\Ulead VideoStudio folder but there is no movietem file in there, there was movietem.dat in the C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\Ulead.dat folder and i made sure that was writeable), and making sure I have the indeo driver and the latest direct x version installed, but still no success. There isnt a known bug using VS 11 with vista home premium is there? I'm about out of ideas.... :(

I used to have VS11 on a Vista Home Premium computer and all functions, including this one, worked fine (well, we won't go into the analogue/dv capture farce). Now have it on a Vista Ultimate machine and again it works fine.

The file you should be looking for, I suspect, is the movietem.dat file in C:\Users\[Your Name]\App Data\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Ulead Video Studio\11.0 Check to see if that one is Read Only... (Mine wasn't...)

Woo, now I can actually try and make some videos now. Thanks to everyone who jumped in and helped me with this issue. :)
