Hi all. I've done a search and so far the main issues i've seen with Vista and Mediapro 8 are:
1) Unfriendly installation on VISTA (but is possible with some workarounds)
2) No sound can be heard through the Mediapro 8 source window and/or preview window (but there is a workaround at least for the preview window)
Are there any other issues with VISTA and Mediapro 8 that have been discovered. After the 2 workarounds for the issues above, it sounds like mediapro is just as usuable on VISTA as it is on XP unless anyone else can chime in with their experiences.
I will be purchasing a new laptop shortly and have to decide between XP and VISTA. Most laptops out now are pre-installed with VISTA and for the units i'm looking at, trying to install XP on those systems is quite a headache. If I can just go VISTA, it would be all the more easier but that would also depend if there are any other headaches involved with MSP8 and VISTA.
Thanks in Advance all.
Any other VISTA issues?
Rendering may be faster on XP. As I never managed to get MSP VE to work on Vista (which I've now uninstalled), I can't be sure, but the performance of VC was certainly poorer, which I ascribe to the enormous bloatware of Vista stealing resources.

Installed MSP8 on my 32bit Vista Home Premium system as instructed on this forum and it seemed to work....... but, lost my ability to capture video.
Had VS11+ also installed and ended up uninstalling both. Uninstalling MSP8 was a nightmare... had to do it manually.
If you're serious about using MSP8 stick with XP and hope Corel get's their shallow American profittering corperate head out of their A$$ and puts this product back on the map (come on Corel - get brave, take a chance).

It took a while and plenty of research but eventually I set my laptop up to dual boot Vista/XP. Not just for MediaStudio but also for my other pet program DVD Workshop 2.
The basic method to do this is here:
Creating a Dual Boot Vista/XP System
The biggest issues you will face with a laptop are:
1. You need to create a purpose built bootable XP setup disc that will include SATA drivers, otherwise the XP installation will tell you your laptop does not have a hard drive.
2. Check before embarking on a venture of this sort that you can obtain the various XP drivers for your laptop - in most cases the Vista drivers will not work with XP.
