V.S. 11 plus loud white noise when editing Quicktime clips

Post by squash »

Hi have a Valentine project thats in jepordy.
I have a new computer an Emachine running win.Vista,I have just add more memory to 2 gig.The intel processor is a pentium D 925 3GHz.
V.S. 11 plus upgrade. I'm adding quicktime clips taken from my Oylmpus still camera. The problem I am having , is after adding the clips to the timeline and pressing (Project) to review, I get a loud white noise but if just press the (Clip) button the clip plays just fine .The (Project) doesn't
Can anyone help in this matter my Heart is on the Line.
Thanks Steve :?:

What is it with you Canadians and your sound problems (http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=28941)?

I kind of remember a similar problem with previous versions of VS. I believe it had to do with the particular version of QuickTime that was running. Can you verify what version you are using, and what version came with VS11, provided they are different.

And another question. What are the properties of the offending clips (right click on a clip)?

This thread might help: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... =kodak+mov

Thanks Jeff
That link you sent has a number of things in there I can try.I was begining to think I was the only one with this problem. I purchased quicktime pro but I think when I originaly purchaced VS 9 and installed it ,it took my pro version away and left me with just the player.
Under properties- File Quicktime movie ---Video --photo JPEG 24 bits 320/240 Sound - no compresion---7.875 KHz. 8 bit mono
Thanks again to friend from the south

8 bit mono is a pretty low quality file...

In what part of Canada are you? Even though I live near Philadelphia I am a life-long Canadiens fan (hope you're not from Toronto  ).

Hi Jeff
I was born in Toronto. The city sure has changed ,thats for sure. We left the city 25 years ago. We have a small farm 40 miles north , we grow pumpkins ect.
The only problem we have is that we have too many deer. I'm sure they must have come up from Pennsylvania. What do you think. You have your fair share of them down there too.
I'll get this figured out yet.
Do you know of a good freeware format convertor. One that won't loose alot of quality with quicktime. Change to AVI

Super
This piece of software converts almost any video format into almost any other video format. Very useful if you've downloaded DivX Xvid or MPEG4 files off the internet and then find you are having difficulty editing them due to their highly compressed nature.

Hi sjj1805
Thank you very much , it's hard sometimes to wrap your head around some of this tech stuff if you have limited time .That's where I take my hat off to people like you who help us through the maze and foggy areas.
I will try that converter you mentioned. I downdloaded one last night that didn't work. With a dial up connection it takes quite a while.
Thanks
Steve
