Must change chapter submenu thumbnails

So, I just bought DVD MF6, and I'm trying to change the chapter (_NOT_ title) thumbnails that display in the chapter submenus, but I can't figure it out. Other DVD creation programs I've used, even quite inferior ones, include this very basic function, so I must just be missing something.

Searching throught the PDF user manual and on the forums here has not resulted in any answers.

So, short of buying more software to do a simple task such as this, how does one use DVD MF6 to change the chapter submenu thumbnails? Leaving them stuck on the first frame looks dreadfully amateurish.

I suppose I could chop up the source videos and avoid the use of chapter submenus altogether, but that's a terrible solution to a basic requirement.

BTW, the files that need chapter thumbnails to be set are all M2TS transport stream files and cannot be loaded into Edit Room, although I'm not sure that's important.

In the Add/Edit Chapters window, there is no option to change the chapter thumbnail where you would most logically expect the feature to be available. No, I am not using the Trial version. This is the $100 version with the HD bells and whistles.

Hopefully I just have tomatoes on my eyes and can't find the option without some additional help.

For SD-DVD, using a Thumbnail Menu, make sure you display the Chapter Menu, and double-click on the thumbnail.

Thank you for the reply, but that doesn't work in either context of the Add/Edit Chapter window nor the DVD Menu template window. Yes, I am trying to create an SD-DVD, sourced from HD transport stream files, although I also have the same problem with regular encoded MPEG files.

In the Add/Edit Chapter window, I can move the Jog Bar to where I want to change the thumbnail for a given chapter highlighted at the bottom of the window, but if I double-click on the small thumbnail image, the Jog Bar just goes back to the beginning of the chapter. The thumbnail itself is not changed at all.

If, however, you were referring to the DVD Menu template window, although I have selected a Chapter Menu from "Currently displayed menu:", double-clicking on the thumbnail stuck at frame 1 of the chapter does nothing but highlight the border resizing options.

Is it not possible to change the Chapter submenu thumbnails from the default of the first frame of the chapter?

Are you using a THUMBNAIL template (not a Scene Selection Template)

look at the following link -- there is a pulldown menu with options for different types of menus (smart scenes/ text/ thumbnail -- select a Thumbnail menu)

My goodness, that was convoluted. Page 34 of the User Manual briefly mentions the Thumbnail Menu type, but not in much detail.

I cannot suggest strongly enough that this subject be added to the product usage FAQ's: "How to change the thumbnail for a chapter submenu".

So, I updated the thumbnails, saved my project, and the app crashed. I can no longer open the project file, as it is clearly corrupted and crashes DVD MF6 every time at 64% progress. Rebooting the PC to clear out the memory didn't help.

Is project file corruption a common problem with this program? I just lost about twenty minutes of work, so it's time to start over and save periodically with different filenames, I guess...
