The DVD appears to be empty?

Post by panjandrum »

I have just installed VS11.5+ on a Vista laptop.
I previously had VS9 with XP, and that worked fine.

I have lots of backlog projects to burn to DVD.

I tried a sample one. Everything went fine right up to Operation Successful and out popped the DVD.

Trouble is, it won't play and when I look at it on the PC it appears to have nothihng on it.

Any suggestions?

Did you only try burning once? I would try burning to a DVD Folder instead of disc, which you can play back with a Windows Media Player or Power DVD. That will help determine whether it's a problem with VS or possibly your burner.

I tried a couple of times.
I'll create a DVD folder next and see what happens - thanks.

I only discovered recently that my laptop can only burn to +R media - so you might check the capabilities of the burner. Whereas desktop DVD burners are almost universally capable of writing to both + R and - R media, many slimline burners are more limited.

Apologetic cough and embarrassed grin ...

It seems that my new laptop will not burn DVD+R discs.
It works fine with DVD+RWs.

Thank you.
