overlay track and ripple editing

Post by sherman39 »

Hi
I understand the principal of ripple editing and that the overlay track does not require adjoining clips to abut each other, however can ripple editing be applied to an overlay with titles so that the adjoining clips do move left.

On my overlay track I have inserted a map of Baja Mexico and have incorporated titles on it.

When previewing I realised that the duration of the map on screen is too long.

I have therefore shortened it using the "arrows" and also the duration of the title associated with it.
However I cannot get the clips on the overlay tracks (or their associated titles) to the right of the shortened track to move left.
I have tried with ripple editing enabled and disabled.
Am I doing something wrong or does VS11.5 not allow ripple editing on the overlay track.
I have searched the forum but couldn't find this answered.
Regards

Paul

Ripple Editing is based on changes made to the Main Video track, not to overlay, titles, and audio. It locks all those "overlay" tracks to the main track.

You can click on the first one, then shift+click on the last one and move them as a group.

Why is that the simple things can give so much pleasure?

So why didn't I think of that?

Thanks
